Aloha kākou! I'm Jessica Nakamura, a freelance web developer in Kahului, Maui.
I started Nakamura Web Services in early 2025 after completing KS Kaiāulu’s full stack web and mobile developer bootcamp in partnership with Nucamp, a fast-paced, immersive and hands-on training in modern web development languages, frameworks, and technologies that prepared me to create my own projects and, most importantly, keep learning!
Before enrolling in KS Kaiāulu’s developer bootcamp, I spent a decade working in the nonprofit sector, from public libraries and the Head Start program to affordable housing and financial literacy. I was a first-generation college student, studying social science at community college before completing a BA in interdisciplinary studies at CIIS. Those experiences shape how I approach development work today: with care, curiosity, and a strong sense of service to the community.
As a freelancer, my goal is to collaborate with nonprofits, educators, small businesses, and changemakers who are working to build something meaningful. I especially value projects rooted in justice, equity, and local impact. Whether I’m creating a website or a custom tool, I want the end result to be intuitive, visually clean, function beautifully, and feel effortless, inviting joy in their everyday use.
I’ve been building websites, learning new tech, and experimenting with digital tools since the days of AOL and dial-up. Now, I’m excited to use those lifelong skills to serve the Hawaiʻi community with intention, heart, and aloha.

For most standard contracts, you'll pay 50% upfront and the final 50% when the project is complete.

Yes! If you need a domain I'm happy to help you find, purchase, and set it up as part of our contract.

The hosting package I offer includes a retainer for ongoing website edits and updates at a discounted rate. You might also want to add a blog feature to your site to post updates on your own. To edit other page content, a custom solution can be configured at additional cost.

Unless specifically agreed otherwise, I don't write the content or provide branding or photos/graphics for your website or app. The client is responsible for providing the project content, while the developer is responsible for building the content into an attractive, functional website or app.

I ensure that your website is built with SEO best practices and performance optimization for search engines. Broader SEO and marketing strategy beyond the project code is outside the scope of my services.

Both the client and developer have the right to terminate the contract or agreement at any time with written notice. Payments received for any work not completed will be refunded. Refunds will not be offered for any work that has already been completed up to the point of termination.
