About Jessica Nakamura

Nonprofit director turned web developer specializing in beautiful, functional custom web pages, projects, and apps.

Jessica is of mixed Filipina ancestry and grew up in Pennsylvania as the oldest of six. She became a first-generation college student, studying social science at her local community college and going on to complete a Bachelor of Arts at the California Institute of Integral Studies. In 2015, Jessica enrolled in a work exchange program that brought her to Lahaina on the island of Maui. Jessica has spent the majority of her career working in various nonprofit services, including public libraries, the Head Start program, affordable housing, and financial literacy. She has a deep commitment to people, community, equity, and education, which she now combines with her love of web development to create websites, online platforms, mobile apps, and tools that serve the greater good. Jessica has been building websites, publishing newsletters, and learning new computer things since her family got their first PC in the 1990s. In 2024, she decided to turn her skills and passions into self-employment and launched Nakamura Web Services. She looks forward to serving the Hawai'i community for many years to come!
